Mountains in Podgora

Podgora is one of the most popular towns on the Makarska Riviera. Like other town in this part of Croatia you will find beaches, a long promenade, harbours and a lot of facilities to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Tucepi is found only 15 minutes northwest of Makarska and only 5 minutes from Tucepi.

Podgora is an old town but it var first mentioned in written documents in 1571. The St. Tekla Church was built in 1630 and in 1964 the All Saint Church was built. From being a village for fishermen and farmers Podgora is now a modern maritime town offering sun, good food, long beaches and water activities (see a map of Podgora).

In the centre of the town you will find two marinas, but the bay of Podgora is long enough to also offer beaches along the shoreline. Here you can hire different kinds of boats or participate in water activities. If you walk out of the centre you will find beaches in both directions, and if you walk for a little less than an hour to the west you will end up in the next riviera-town; Tucepi

Allthough the nearest beach may be crowded in the middle of the summer, the long riviera offers beaches along most of the coastline.

The Adriatic Ocean offers warm and crystal clear water, and the pebbled beaches in Podgora gives a clean and pure impression. A green line of pine trees separate the promeande and the beach. Some of the biggest hotels are found in the eastern part of the bay while the biggest harbor is in the west.

Tracks in the nearby hills lead you to small villages and chapels, and some tracks are also suitable for bicycles. Further north the steep mountains makes a clear and grey end of the shorline and the green hills.
